This can negatively affect teens’ school performance, cause teens to become dependent on drugs, and impair their ability to drive, increasing the risk of serious injury from a car accident or death. Drugs can also have a negative impact on the body’s immune system, which can cause the body to be weak to incoming diseases and make it harder to fight diseases, with common illnesses such as the flu or a common cold becoming very problematic.. This can significantly increase the risk of infections and chronic inflammation and slow the rate at which wounds heal.
What are the mental effects of underaged drug use?
Drug abuse has many negative mental health effects. Drug abuse at a young age can cause future mental health problems or even worsen mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and even schizophrenia. It can turn your brain to believe that it needs drugs to survive and make you addicted to it, causing dependence on them. Drugs can lead teenagers to make worse choices through poor judgment and increase the risk of mental disorders. The abuse of drugs in earlier years can disrupt the development of the brain, leading to neurotransmitter damage, reduced ability to feel pleasure in life, memory problems, cognitive problems, unhealthy habits, and mental development. At the psychological level, underaged drug abuse can cause hallucinations, poor self-control, impulsive behavior, paranoia, mood swings, confusion, and tolerance to the drugs, leading to increased drug use, disruption of areas of the brain that control other parts of the body and can disrupt body function, make one always aggressive, and many other detrimental effects that change one’s life.
